Link exchange tracking

A link exchange tracker that keeps every swap fair

SEOENV is a link exchange tracker for both halves of every swap. Record what you gave and what you got side by side, check that both links stay up, and keep a list of the sites you can offer next.

Free plan: 20 links, 2 clients, 2 projects. Paid plans from $29/mo.

The problem

Swaps start fair. Then one side disappears.

Without both halves in one place, nobody can say who owes whom.

Exchanges are agreed in email and logged in two different tabs, if they are logged at all. When a partner removes their link, your link stays live on their behalf. When someone asks for a new swap, you have to work out from memory which of your sites you have already offered.

Master Link Exchange

Both sides of every swap, in one row.

The link you gave and the link you got are logged together.

Each exchange records source and target pages, anchors, the partner and notes for both halves. Each side is checked, so a lopsided swap shows up in the same row.

  • See the balance: gave and got side by side, per partner.
  • Catch one-sided losses: a Lost link on their side is visible next to an Active one on yours.
  • Keep the context: partner details and notes stay with the exchange.

Site Inventory

Know which of your sites you can offer.

A list of your own sites, ready for the next swap.

Add the sites you own or manage to Site Inventory, with the details partners ask for. When a new exchange comes up, pick from the list instead of searching old threads.

  • Offer with confidence: see your sites in one place.
  • Avoid repeats: check what you have already used before you agree.
  • Link it up: partners and exchanges reference the same sites.
Good practice

How to keep link exchanges honest.

  • Agree the terms in writing. Record the pages, anchors and whether each link should be followed before either side publishes.
  • Publish and log at the same time. Add both halves to Master Link Exchange the day they go live, not at month end.
  • Check both sides, not just theirs. If your own side breaks during a redesign, the partner is the one out of pocket. Fix it before they notice.
  • Keep exchanges relevant. Swap with sites your readers would actually find useful, and keep the number modest. Google calls excessive exchanges a link scheme.
  • Review partners each quarter. Look for partners with repeated Lost links and decide whether to keep working with them.

A fair swap is one you can prove.

Both links logged, both links checked.

How it works

Set up exchanges in three steps.

Most of the work is adding your sites once.

  • Add your sites: list the sites you can offer in Site Inventory.
  • Log the exchange: record both halves in Master Link Exchange, with partner and anchors.
  • Check both links: run Check all, or let daily checks on paid plans keep both sides current.

Why we built SEOENV

Most disputes we have seen in link exchanges were not bad faith, just bad records. Logging both halves together settles them in seconds. Track only exchanges you would stand behind editorially; Google treats excessive link exchanges as a link scheme.
